Moon over Miami

This is a really cool photo. It was a sunrise, Miami looked erie, and quite gray, but the moon looked amazing. Lucky for me I had my 70-200mm lens. I quickly pulled it out and took a few shots of this awesome scene. I couldn’t believe how big the moon was, so I sat there and admired it for a while before I headed back home with a fat grin on my face. Once I got home, I really couldn’t believe what I had just witnessed, lucky for me I have a photo of it that always take me back to that day.

Camera settings: 1/100 f2.8 ISO 100 shot at 200mm

How to fix vertical distortion in architectural photography

Here is a quick video I made on how to fix vertical distortion in architectural photography on the field. We often spend too much time in post trying to fix things that can easily be fixed in the field. This is an example of that. If its too late and you need to fix this in post, I have also made a video of an easy fix. Here are both videos, short and sweet just like the fix.

Ocean Drive Reflections

This is one of my favorite shots from Ocean Drive. I was actually teaching one of my Sunset and Night Photography Workshops when I shot this photo. I saw this puddle of water on the floor and I knew I had to get down really low and get a reflection shot of the iconic Colony Hotel. To shoot this I had to get on the ground and I was shooting super wide. I used my 14-24mm lens.

Camera settings: 10 seconds f16 ISO 100

Gran Turismo Injected

I have been into Volkswagen aka VW every since I can remember. I have owned quite a few of them. My first one was a black Golf, we used to call it the party movil back in the day. My friends and I would crash parties in it. After that I switched to GTI’s. I’ve had just about every color and I have modified them all. This one is my latest one, I have APR stage 2 on it and did all the work my self. (I love working on my cars) I shot this photo at the Wynwood Arts District here in Miami Florida.

The term GTI stand for Grand Turismo Injected.

Hidden Gem in Miami

If you are a new photographer in Miami you probably haven’t heard of this place. It is a very cool spot to take pictures from. Its on the top of a parking garage and it is open to the public. You do not have to do anything illegal to get here, simply park and look over the wall to see the amazing lights.

I come here often to get some pictures and clear my head. Above is the exact location. Maybe I’ll see you there?

I hate this about Miami

I love Miami, the ocean, the architecture, the boats, beautiful people everywhere, the kickback beach life style. I can go on and on and on about the things I love about this place, that’s why I moved here.

Hear me out, there is one major thing about Miami that I truly, truly hate. I has bothered me since the day I got here, and it seems to be getting worse before it gets any better. How does this relate to my photography?

1. It is a place I take a lot of photos from, and bring lots of out of town friends to take pictures.

2. It is changing everything around me (us) and its also changing what is in my photos.

Here is the video:

I shot this picture from this exact location.
