How to shoot the sunset

In this video, I will teach you how to shoot the sunset. I cover settings, composition, and the thought process that goes behind it when shooting the sunset. It has taken me a long time to learn all of this, and I try to put it all in this video.

The images below are the images from this particular evening. As you can see if you follow my suggestions you can get a nice set of photos from one single sunset. Just remember that practice and patience make perfect.

My favorite is the last photo, I love how the orange came together making it look like a postcard. What is your favorite? Do you have any tips you would like to add to the list? Leave them in the comments below.

Photos of Havana Cuba That Will Make You Want to Visit

Photos of Havana Cuba That Will Make You Want to Book A Flight

Havana Cuba. Here are my favorite images from Cuba. I have been there so many times and have so many images. I have gone through about 500 out of 6000 and these are my top 40. If you have never been to Cuba, you really need to plan a trip there. The place is untouched and has been for 60 years. It is a photographers paradise. I teach photography workshops down in Havana and Vinales, however, if you want to go on your own I have you covered. I created a list that details the must go to places to photograph in Havana. You can find that list here.

People are Really Friendly in Havana Cuba

People are so friendly down there, just about anyone is happy to get their photo taken. The music, the architecture and the cars are just incredible. I love it all. I will be posting more photos from Cuba in the following weeks, months and years, so stay tuned. If you have any questions about Havana or Cuba in general, drop me a line in the comments below.

The best times to photograph are in the mornings and in the afternoons. The sun can get really hot in Havan so make sure you are prepared with lots of water, sun lotion and a pair of good walking shoes.  There are bars and restaurants in just about every corner in case you need to take a break. I must warn you, once you start taking photos in Havana, you will not be able to stop.

If you have a trip coming up, don’t forget to download my list and take it with you. It is a must when you are down there. Trust me on this. Here is that list of must-see places in Havana. To edit your street photos, check out my Lightroom Presets. Click here to see the full gallery.

The Gear

The gear I used for all my photos: Nikon D800 with a Nikon 14-24mm and a Nikon 24-85mm.  A MeFOTO tripod is a must when shooting the sunset.

How to save a high res still frame from Final Cut

In this video, I show you how you can save a full resolution still frame form Final Cut Pro. Have you ever shot a video and really liked how one particular frame looked. Instead of taking a screenshot, there is a way to export the high-resolution still image from Final Cut. It is actually not complicated tp do.

Check out the video below and see how you can easily do this. After exporting this particular frame, I brought it into Lightroom and edited the photo. It actually works really good.

Paris Hilton Dj’s Art Basel

I had the pleasure of shooting Paris Hilton During Art Basel week. She made an appearance at a private party, and let me tell you she still has a massive following. After about an hour of her taking selfies with fans and on the red carpet she made it up on stage. I thought she was going up to wave a the crowd, but instead, she started to tear up the turntables. I had never seen Paris play before, and I was pleasantly surprised. She can get down and pump up the crowd.

As soon as she started playing the floor filled up with people dancing and trying to sneak a photo of Paris with their cell phones, it was impossible to get through that crowd, so I waited until her set was almost over to get in the crazy crowd and get a shot.

Here is one of my favorite photos I shot of her. She was dancing, pumping up the crowd and just having a good time.  It’s good to see Paris in Miami, especially during Art Basel.
