Las Coloradas Mexico

Las Coloradas Mexico/ What you see here are huge salt evaporation ponds for sea salt extraction. Some of them show peculiar colors due to microorganisms in the water, like the pink lagoon. Note that in order for you to catch the ultra pink color, the water needs to be in direct sunlight, the best time to catch this really cool phenomenon is at noon on a clear day.

I shot this with my drone, and of course, it is best if you have a model to make the photo more interesting or simply add the human element. Who is the model I brought? Her name is Mercedes, without this shot wouldn’t be as cool, however, you don’t have to bring a model for this place to be epic. If I would have been alone, I would have asked someone there or simply used myself to give the place some perspective.

I edited this shot with my aerial presets. They are tastefully re-mastered.

I just launched my new site, which focuses on sky overlays and original merch. Drop-in and check it out. If you like something pick it up for a discounted rate. All my readers get 15% off. Use discount code edin at check out!

If you want to visit these places, I highly recommend a guided tour. To go on your own is kind of an adventure and hard to find the cool spots.

5th Avenue Playa del Carmen

5th Avenue Playa del Carmen. I love 5th avenue in Playa del Carmen. This is the bloodline of Playa as the locals call it.  5th ave is a pedestrian street full of restaurants and shops. You can find just about anything here. From tours in Playa and Cancun to some of your favorite American stores.

The bars and restaurants are what keeps 5th alive all night long. Even during the pandemic, these bars were open until late night early morning.

Hilton Playa del Carmen, the last photo

Hilton Playa del Carmen. This is the last photo I shot before leaving playa del carmen. As you know I moved to Playa del Carmen Mexico at the beginning of the year. In January to be exact. I was there for 7 months exactly. Why did I move there? Well, that’s a discussion I will go deep into in a different blog post, but for now, enjoy this cool shot.

I actually flew my drone from my rooftop, and if you look close enough you can see the rooftop I’m flying from. I really like how the colors came out. I shot this at dusk right after the sunset. This is the Hilton in Playa del Carmen Mexico, I actually lived next door. I always got a kick out of talking to tourists telling them how I came to visit and never left.

Chichén Itzá

Chichén Itzá, a great historical Mayan pyramid located in the Yucatan State of Mexico.

I have been here many times, and it never disappoints. There is such incredible energy in this place. When you stand in front of the great pyramid of Chichén Itzá, close your eyes, and you can see and hear the Mayans that used to spend time here.

About the image: I wanted to create a magical moment that really described Mexico. I used a Mexican Mariachi hat and a Mexican traditional blanket around the model to make it easy for the viewer to see where the pyramid was located.

Camera settings: 1/125 F11 ISO 100  Edited with my Lightroom Presets.

La Quinta Gameros an Architectural Masterpiece

La Quinta Gameros

On my last trip to Chihuahua Mexico, the place I was born, I ended up visiting La Quinta Gameros. I have not been to this place since I was a kid, it brought up lots of memories and I saw it from a different perspective.

La Quinta Gamers is an incredible mansion in Chihuahua Chihuahua Mexico, the architecture is mind-blowing on many levels. It currently houses the Centro Cultural Universitario Quinta Gameros, a regional museum.

The guides say that Manuel Gameros started building Quinta Gameros in 1907 as a wedding present for his fiancée, Elisa Muller. By the time it was finished in 1910, she had died, and soon afterward the Revolution began, and the Gameros family fled to the United States.
