I was at one of my favorite spots to shoot in Miami Beach when the sun started going down. It was so big I wanted to try and capture its scale. I quickly switched my lens to my Nikon 70-200mm zoomed all the way in and got this shot.
When you zoom all the way in using a zoom lens, is what we call compressing a shot. That means you bring the background into the front of the image giving it a very unique look. You also make background elements appear bigger then they actually are by using this technique.
I shot it with my Nikon D800. Shortly after the sun set I started shooting some cool night shots with my favorite wide angle.
I shot these two images with my Mavic Pro. I must say every time I fly the little drone, I’m super impressed by it. The image quality is almost there, but with the help of my Dji Lightroom Presets, its the images are there.
I went to catch a sunrise this particular morning and after the sun came up, I pulled out the Mavic and had some fun.
Ok, not really, this is actually Monument Island located in the Miami Bay. I actually ride my paddle board here and it feels like a private island. Usually filled with boaters from all over Miami and the random paddle border that is looking to get away. I love this place it is quite cool because it is inaccessible by land. I used my Dji Lightroom Presets to edit these photos and a Mavic Pro to shoot them.
A while back I made this short video on how to pack for Cuba. It still holds true, keep things light and always brings your gear in a a carry-on. I love traveling to Cuba, it’s such a cool destination. You can see a schedule of my upcoming Cuba workshops here.
