Miami Drone Photos

The sky was on fire like a bomb went off in the distance. It was insane. Luckily I had my drone and I was able to get some really cool footage. I love days like this intense.  The cloud formations were just perfect. I shot all these photos with my Mavic Pro and edited them with my new DJI Lightroom Presets. For having such a small sensor, the camera on the Mavic Pro works great.

Miami sunsets are always epic.

Here is a video giving you my top 10 drone photography tips. This is how I take all my drone images.

Weekend at the Everglades

There is nothing cooler than spending the day in the outdoors, especially surrounded by friends. The Everglades is one of my favorite places to photograph, it is so challenging, not only the conditions but it’s a swamp full of snakes and gators. Just think about that for a second, sometimes in order to get the shot, you have to go in the water and pretend there is nothing down there.  Imagine being in a swimming pool. This is when 30 seconds seems like an eternity. I edited these with my Ultimate Lightroom Preset Collection.

The first image is my favorite, even though I was getting eaten alive by mosquitos, I think it was worth the pain.

The images were shot with my Nikon D800 and Nikon 14-24mm on my favorite MeFOTO tripod.

Sunrise with Friends

One of the best things about photography is sharing the special moment with my friends. This morning was no different, my friends and I decided to go out Saturday morning and shoot the sunrise at this particular spot.

Unlike the west coast, we do not have any cliffs or rocks or anything in the water, our landscapes are really plain. Plain is not bad it is beautiful in its own right, however, it can get boring at times.

This particular spot has this concrete pillars sticking out of the water, and that makes for some awesome compositions. That is the reason why we like this spot so much. There are not many like this in Miami.

Check out the video for bts footage.

Best Camera Settings For Landscape Photography

What are the best camera settings for landscape photography? This is a question often asked by people just getting into landscape photography. This is a hard question to answer as there are not “perfect” settings.

That is the beauty of shooting in manual mode, you can completely control your camera, therefore you can control the entire scene. These settings are a good starting point for anyone that is into landscape photography and does not know where to start. I live by these settings and when in doubt, this is where I go.

How I came up with the best camera settings for landscape photography was by pure trial and error. The more I experiment with the light, the elements and my camera settings, the more I come back to these particular settings.

These settings will get you started on the right foot. If you have ever wondered what the best camera settings for landscape photography are, then this video will clear things up. Always remember to experiment and think outside the box. Imagine the photo before clicking the shutter and try to put that image on film. (digital now a days)

Summer at the Everglades National Park

I love the Everglades, I mean I really, really like going out there. However it is summer, and that means wet season, and unfortunately the mosquitos are insane out there, almost unbearable.

People always ask me when the best time to go to the Everglades is, and my answer is always the same. If you want to get really good photos go there in the summer time. If you want to enjoy the Everglades, go there in the winter time.

No mater what time of the year you go, one thing is for sure, you will be glad you did. The swamp will change you, it is a beautiful place, something you only read in good books…
