When do the surfers come out? This is a question I often get asked. The answer is when there are waves! Ok ok, so it is very easy to know when the waves are coming to Miami, all you have to do is watch the weather.
When we have a cold front in Miami Beach the waves grow, and they get fairly big. This usually happens in December, January and Feb, but you must remember it is only when there are cold fronts, meaning a 10 degree drop.
Now please be warned, its usually really cold and windy when this happens, but it is well worth the shots. Loads of awesome people come out to the beach just to hang, you also see lots and lots of photographers all along the water as far as the eye can see.

I had a really busy weekend, started off with an amazing Capture the Everglades Workshop and carried on to the Miami Marathon. The Marathon was good, the bad thing was the weather. It was the coldest day of the year.
I was on my scooter as they needed me to follow the course and make stops along the way to shoot the athletes, the problem was that it was raining the entire time and I was freezing my butt off. All in all it went well and I got some good shots for the job. Here is one of my favorites.
OMG what a crazy past 5 moths I have had. I just moved into a new place and it is well deserved. I can now catch a sunset from here every night and rest a sure I will :)
Here is an old photo of the Miami Herald Building, this was such an iconic place, now its just a massive patch of grass. They were supposed to build a casino there but not sure if that is supposed to go down anymore. Im just glad I shot this before the building got torn down.
Here is one of the Park Central Hotel in Miami Beach. I shot this a very long time ago. This hotel is located on Ocean Drive and they always have this car out there. Im not sure if it is still there, that entire area has been under construction for a bit. I gotta go check it out…
One of the coolest places to take epic shots of the sunset is here Maurice Gibb Memorial Park. Its kind of a hidden gem, every time I bring a local here they are shocked as to why they have not been here. I spend loads of time here, from shooting sunsets, to walking my doggie, to paddle boarding, and just plain old chilling. Great place to come to if you are in Miami.
