The Ultimate U turn

The Ultimate U-turn. This is quite a sight to see. I often sit on top of this bridge to watch the ships take off. They usually leave at sunset, but they do not just take off straight into the ocean. First, they come to the bay to turn around. You would never imagine something so massive fitting into a tight little space. Give me the keys to that think and I will bash it right into the skyline. Well done Capitan :)

Chasing the Light

Chasing the light. My endless quest to catch the perfect sunset never ends. As I walk along the shoreline and look up at the sky, the colors pull me in. As the light changes, I start to look around desperately to find a composition, this particular spot had a dingy tied to the rocks at the bottom of the sea, I had to use it as my main focal point before it disappeared into the night.

Boca Chica Key Florida Sunsets

Boca Chica Key Florida Sunsets. Boca Chica Key Florida is only accessible by boat. If you are a really good swimmer, you can also give it a shot! JK, it’s not that close, however, it is a must if you are in Miami and know someone with a boat. This is a tiny island with this beautiful lighthouse. The sunsets right behind it giving you a chance to take a great shot.

I wanted to get something different so I used this anchor point as my main focal point with the lighthouse behind it. I think it came out really cool and different than how most people shoot it. If you ever get the chance to go, you should however bring plenty of mosquito repellent. You will get eaten alive once the sun starts to set. But hey just look at this photo, it’s all well worth it.

Best Place to Photograph the Sunset in Playa del Carmen

Where is the best place to photograph the sunset in Playa del Carmen Mexico? This is a question I often get since I have been living here for a little while.

Playa del Carme is a great place to visit if you are a photographer, however, it can be a daunting place to find locations. Do not worry I have your back.

The best photography spot in Playa del Carmen to shoot the sunset can be found right on the beach, at the old ferry station going to Cozumel. Remember it’s the old ferry station, not the current one being in use. You can find the old pier south of the current pier.

Are you are looking for amazing skies for your images? Check out my vast library of EPIC sky overlays you can use to create award-winning photos.

The Gear

The gear I use for all my photos: Nikon D850 with a Nikon 14-24mm a Nikon 24-85mm a Nikon 70-200.  A MeFOTO tripod is a must. I edit all my images with my Lightroom Presets download them and give them a try.

However, I shot these photos with my iPhone. I have been doing a lot of iPhone photography lately and I am having a blast with it. It’s not like a real camera but the photos look really good.

Best Place to Photograph the Sunset in Playa del Carmen

To get there simply google Panama Jack resort. Once you get to Panama Jack simply follows the road all the way to the beach and that same road turns into the old pier. Here you can go crazy and get some really epic shots of the sunset.

Make sure you walk around the beach to get the best possible shots. There is plenty to shoot around this area.

La Oia Santorini Sunset

What is an Epic Sunset?

To me, the definition of an epic sunset is one that moves you. One that does something to you on an emotional level.

You know when you are looking into the distance lost in thought when all the sudden a really great memory pops into your head making you smile from ear to ear? That’s it, that’s what an epic sunset is all about.

I shot this photo in La Oia Santorini. As I sat there at the old castle ruins,  with my feet hanging over the edge waiting for that epic moment for the sun to show up. I close my eyes, take a deep breath of fresh air, my lungs inflate like balloons right before I exhale. When I open my eyes, the overwhelming orange from the sun surrounds me putting a massive grin on my face.

I love when everything comes together. It all starts with you being there on time to catch the action when and if it happens. In this particular case, the movement began and it came with a fury. There were about 50 photographers around me, and as the sun made its way down, you could hear a pin drop.

Everyone sat still, all the sudden all you could hear was cameras clicking away into the sunset.  Santorini is one of those places where there is something magical in the air. Something pure, I like to call it joy. As you look around, all you see is smiles looking into the epic La Oia Santorini sunset.

The gear I used for this particular shot: Nikon D800 with a Nikon 70-200mm  I used this lens to compress the sun into my image. Notice how I made sure that boat was in place before I clicked the shutter. A MeFOTO tripod. I edit all my images with my Lightroom Presets download them and give them a try.
