Abandoned Pier Playa del Carmen

Abandoned Pier Playa Del Carmen. This is the abandoned fishing pier in Playa del Carmen Mexico. It is a sight to see, and one of the coolest broken abandoned fishing piers I have ever stepped foot on.

You can actually swim to it and climb right up. You have to be super careful as there are a ton of rusty nails sticking up ready to send you to the hospital. So please be careful if you decide to be adventurous.

During sunset, the locals come here with a six-pack of beer and a joint to enjoy a nice sunset. I, however, like to show up with my camera.

On this day however I was shooting the sunrise and I decided to shoot it from shore, as the clouds behind it looked insane.

I edit all my images with my Lightroom Presets, download them, and give them a try.

Tips and tricks for Sunrise photography

Tips and tricks for Sunrise photography you must know

Sunrise photography. Looking to make better photos during sunrise? In this video, I go over some tips and trick to help you do just that.

Sunrise photography can be tricky. As photographers we go out in search of the perfect photo especially during at sunrise and sunset, however, that means that all conditions must be right, from the weather to the right clouds to the right colors and everything in between. Unfortunately, more times than not you will be disappointed with the conditions and it is imperative that you use what you have around you to make good photos regardless of the conditions.

In this video, I cover everything you need to know for sunrise photography from camera settings to the composition

It is important that you use everything that is around you to help you with your composition. In this particular case I had very little to work with, however, the birds were on my side.

I immediately started shooting the landscape using the birds as my composition. Birds usually create really interesting patterns that will make a great image, or a boring photo all the sudden not so boring.

Living on the beach birds are a very important part of my images, but it’s not only about using birds, you can also use rocks or any kind of things that make patters. If you are familiar with my images you will know that I often use water, sand, rocks, and anything at my disposal to make images more interesting.

The most important thing to remember is that it is not about the journey to make a photo, it is not always going to be a success. In fact most of the time you will be disappointed with your images, but that is ok as long as you have fun in the process. Now that you have a few more tools under your belt, go out there and have some fun.

Are there any other tips you would add to the list?

Check out my gear list here to see what I am shooting with. I edit all my images with my Lightroom Presets give them a try.

Living the Dream

I am living the dream! That’s what we all want to be able to say right?

I had an awesome photography workshop this morning and it was epic, to say the least. I feel like I am dreaming every time I am in the presence of the Atlantic Ocean. Feeling the ocean breeze hit my face makes me smile like a kid at a toy store.

I have always had this idea in my head, that when I was older I would move to a warm beautiful beach somewhere, live on the sandy beach where the high tide would come up to my front doorsteps. Somewhere where I would wake up in a hammock in the middle of the night listening to the beautiful waves as they draw a big fat juicy smile on my face. Somewhere touristy where I would teach people how to surf or scuba or do something cool while they are on their dream vacation.

It was not until this morning when I realized I am living my dream. The dream I have been dreaming for a long time. It is crazy to think that I am doing everything I have described above. Well, I do not have a house on the beach (not yet anyway) however I live very close to it. So close to it I can walk to it, ride my skateboard, bicycle or if I really wanted to drive for 3 seconds and be upon its presence.

The best part of the story is that I teach workshops on the beach, sunrise photography workshops. Yes, I have subconsciously created the life I have always dreamed of. Crazy to think that right? I live in paradise, and teach people something I love to do.

The universe always works its self out. If you believe in something so bad and visualize it in your head day in and day out, it will eventually come true. Do not get me wrong, I have worked my butt off to get to this point, but it is happening. I feel so blessed to be in the situation that I am in.

I just launched my new Photography Workshops website, after teaching workshops to locals for over 5 years, I have opened the door to everyone from everywhere just about every day of the week. You guys kept asking me when I was going to do this, here you have it.

My new site is called WalksofMiami.com please drop in, check out the site and the blog. Leave us a comment and book your next adventure with us. I promise it will be an unforgettable one. If you want to help us, simply share it with your friends and help us spread the word. We will be adding new tours, new photography guides and loads of new photos.

Miami Photography Workshops

Miami Photography Workshops are finally here. I have very exciting news, over the last year I have been working really hard on my new Miami Photography Workshops and tours

7 years ago I hosted my first photography workshop in Miami. I remember clearly setting it up and posting it on my social media. It was a shoot with a model, I ended up selling it out, the attendees had a great time and it was loads of fun. I was hooked…

Fast forward a couple of years. I decided to do all types of Miami photography workshops and more often. I decided to do this for 2 reasons, number one because I really love teaching people, and number two because I never had this type of opportunity to learn.

Miami Photography Workshops

You see, back then workshops where really non-existent, at least affordable ones that anyone could attend. Everything I would ever find was incredibly expensive. Such as 12-day African excursions for loads of cash.  Don’t get me wrong, I would love to go on one, but let’s face it, not a lot of people have that kind of cash or free time to attend one of this awesome workshops.

This is when the lightbulb went on and I decided to create 1-8 hour workshops that everyone could afford.

I ran all the workshops out of my own website (and still do). Once things started to get a bit crazy I decided to build a new site, add new times and dates and create an all around fun place for people to come learn, participate and take some incredible photos that when WalksOfMiami was born. .This is the beginning of something big. I want to keep adding tours and workshops and I will also be adding new hosts (aka teachers and tour guides) all hand-picked and overseen by me.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for all your continuous support. If you are from overseas and have been asking me about my dates for workshops, guess what, they are happening all the time. Just drop in by WalksOfMiami.com and book your tour. I will see you there…

How to shoot the sunrise

In this video, I go to shoot the sunrise in Miami Beach. Even though I was late to the fun, I was still able to get some good shots. This just shows you what happens when you hesitate, if you snooze you loose. Another lesson learned in the photography game.

You can’t get lazy when it comes to shooting the sunrise or the sunset because that’s exactly how you will miss out on the awesomeness nature has to show you. However, if you hustle you can still get the job done.

I shot the image in the video with my Nikon D800 and my Nikon 14-24mm on my MeFOTO tripod.

If you are looking for an easier way to edit your images, you can check out my Ultimate Lightroom Preset Collection.
