Miami Beach Beach Huts

Miami Beach Beach Huts.

I walk by this beach huts every day, they come in all shapes and sizes and they are all super cool. This particular day the clouds were just right, it was over cast and the lighting was perfect. I shot a lot of them but this three are my favorites.

Beachhuts3

Anything beach related I just love, maybe its just the mood the beach puts me in. It truly makes me happy, something about the water, warm weather and just being outside…

Beachhuts2

I like them both B&W and in color not sure what I like best so I just thought I would post both side by side, I suppose depends what kind of mood I’m in B&W or color. What do you like better?

Pão de Açúcar, Brazil

After a short red eye from Miami to Sao Paulo I jumped on another short plane to Rio De Janeiro. I had arrived. My first time in Rio I mean what was I do to? I got settled in and went down to the beach to take some pics, shortly after I found my self drinking caipirinhas. Feeling good after the sun had set. next thing you know the night turned into morning. It was crazy, my night went something like the movie The Hangover.

Pão de Açúcar, Brazil

After getting home at 5 am I laid in my bed waiting for my tour guide to show up, I jumped in the shower to try to wash the caipirinhas off (didn’t work by the way) and next thing you know the door bell rang. Yikes!!!!

Pão de Açúcar Rio De Janeiro

After a long day with dark sunglasses I ended up on top of Pão de Açúcar (8 hrs later) but as soon as I got there, my hangover was gone, the sleep depravation went away and I was left with this incredible view. To people like me views like this cure everything, specially when sharing them with dad, including crazy nights in Copa Cabana…. Until next time Brazil.

Kerala Backwaters

Kerala Backwaters.
One of the coolest things I did in India was take a house boat throughout the Kerala Backwaters, I have to tell you that no matter what I say here you will never fully understand until you actually experience it, and yes it needs to be in your bucket list. Here is a short video made by Stark Communications so you can get a better idea.

Read on…

Kerala Backwaters India

Talk about a fairy tail. Let me tell you. This aren’t your typical boats, this are really cool boats from some sort of weird dream you had as a kid.

A houseboat is loaded with rooms, and all the animates you would expect in a hotel or at your own house. There is a Captain and a Chef and they are at your feet. If you want to stop somewhere and get something or check something out, all you have to do is say so. If you are hungry they will cook up a feast for you, if you are thirsty not a problem, what else do you need to completely relax and get lost in pure bliss?

When we hit the Backwaters I was tired and in need of a break, I had no idea what I was in for, the entire trip had been go, go, go, and I figured this would be no different.

20140314-DSC_3074

Boy was I wrong, I finally realized that we would be in this boat all day until the next morning. As soon as I realized this, I put my camera down and work was over. I pulled out my laptop and started playing some music cursing through the backwaters with a cold beer in hand. Working had gone out the window at that point. No more thinking about photography or blogging…

This truly was an incredible experience, you get to see all the locals along the back waters and they are all so happy to see you. The boat cruses really slow so you can truly take everything in.

We made a few pit stops along the way to get some essentials, we were dancing and the whole thing was super chill. Much needed after a few long days of work.

Even though I put my camera away and I was done with photos for a day, I did manage to snap this few shots for you guys to get a tiny idea of what I’m talking about. Just with like anything else, I feel its always important to put your camera down and relax and enjoy whats in front of you, you can burn your self out and turn a good trip into a long work trip, this was starting to happen to me until we hit the house boat. I hope all of you get to experience this once if your life time and this is not my last Backwaters trip.

People of Kerala India

People of Kerala India part one in no particular order.

As promised here is part one of my People of Kerala India series. What can I say without sounding like a broken record? I truly fell in love with this place, everyone is so happy, a sincere happy, all the smiles are sincere you can feel it, and I love every bit of it.

I had it in my head to create a series about the people before I got there, but I was going to make it black and white. The truth is I did not see Kerala in B&W, I saw it colorful and full of life, nothing gray about it. I quickly realized this and started taking lots of photos with a big fat grin on my face, I couldn’t help it, no matter where I pointed the camera there was always a smile on the other side of the lens.

I will have a small series in B&W, but I saw India in full vibrant color, and I think its a fair representation of all the people that make this such a great place. I can’t wait to go back. All this photos were edited with the preset I made and gave all my readers you can find it Here for free.

Please drop me a line and let me know your thoughts.

Kerala India

Kerala India

First week in Kerala India has been amazing, where do I start? I feel really fortunate and honored to be here. I am with the coolest group of people in a really amazing place. Check out keralablogexpress.com to meet everyone.

As soon as I got here I fell in love with the people, they are so nice, always smiling always hanging out, the women are beautiful, and the kids are just so cool. Everybody is so welcoming and their smiles are contagious. I think in order to understand a place or even start to like it you must first like the people, in this case I love everyone here.

I have always heard about this place, nothing I say will do Kerala any justice, you just have to put it on your bucket list and come check it out…

Miami Beach iconic lifeguard towers

Miami Beach iconic lifeguard towers:

Good morning people, I have been working on this new series what seems for ever. I started this project a few months ago. I wanted to capture every lifeguard tower in Miami Beach in a different sunrise. At the beginning of the project I thought that this was going to be an easy task, let me tell you, it was anything but easy.

From the beginning of the project I wanted to capture cool sunrises with all this cool lifeguard towers, well very quickly I realized that the sunrise had to match the tower, making things a bit more complicated. Like everything I do I became a bit obsessed with this. I had to change my sleeping habits because I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss any sunrises until this project was completed. This took me a few months and I missed very few sunrises. (I can count them in one hand)

I started on 1st street and worked my way to 21st, some days the sunrises were not even worth photographing so I just sat there and enjoyed them, but that wasn’t my only problem, very quickly I realized the people where going to be a massive issue. It turns out people are attracted to things, they don’t like to just pick a spot in the sand and sit there, then need a cozy place, in observing people coming to the beach to watch the sunrise, 100% of them would congregate around this lifeguard towers not caring about me and my camera even though I was super close to it and impossible to ignore.

Tourists were not the only issue, homeless people crashing out at this places or underneath them where a bit of an issue also, lots of the time they would get up to use the bathroom (the sand) in the middle of my shot. No problem, I finally completed this and have hundreds of photos of this towers.

This is the coolest project I have completed to date. I have such a personal connection to this not only because I love this place but because I truly feel the sun to be something spiritual, and watching it rise for so many days in a row, well it was something really special. I got to see some amazing sunrises, met some amazing people, observed human behavior and learned a lot from it all.

Here is my final project, I hope you like the photos. (I have lots of different ones from this same locations that I will publish later, I feel this are the best ones) Here they are in order from 1st street to 21st street coming to you from Miami Beach Florida.
