Nikon V1 Review

Here is my Nikon V1 review. What can I say about this camera, its awesome. Its compact, its very inexpensive and it has interchangeable lenses. Its fully manual and shoot RAW. I love it. This is my main Kite Cam. Here is a few randoms. Don’t forget to check out my DSLR Camera Reviews and What’s in my Bag.

At its heart the V1 has a 13.2 x 8.8 CMOS sensor which uses Nikon’s CX image sensor format. Helping to capture stunningly detailed and vibrant footage would be the EXPEED 3 with dual image processors. Aside from quickly transferring information to the SD/SDHC or SDXC card being recorded to, EXPEED 3 enables phase detection autofocus.

The 10-30mm lens, along with the other compatible 1 NIKKOR lenses mount to the camera’s Nikon 1 mount. No matter what the desired focal length, the V1 captures stills in JPEG and RAW and video in the MOV format, with H.264/MPEG-4 compression. Choices for enhancing both capture modes include adding the optional external ME-1 stereo microphone and using the optional SB-N5 Speedlight in the i-TTL hot shoe.

Integrated tools include a 3.0″ LCD display and a 100% view electronic viewfinder, with diopter adjustments. Command and features buttons also work to ensure user-friendliness. Internally, the impressive Advanced hybrid AF delivers 10 frames-per-second capture in autofocus mode and 60fps in manual mode, ensuring a clear shot of moving targets. Whether it’s ponies galloping in the surf or an active toddler, Nikon has gone to great lengths to ensure the moment will be captured with clarity. Making this possible is a combination of contrast and focal plane phase detect autofocus, with an incredible 73 point AF array.

Another highlight, Motion Snapshot, captures a succession of images with a just one click. Low light capabilities with a wide ISO range of 100-3200 and 6400, and Smart Photo Selector, which lets the camera handle the settings, also expand the creative possibilities of the V1. With these features, a lightweight and compact body, and interchangeable lenses, the possibilities are endless.
