American Airlines Arena

I went out to shoot the skyline this particular night but I couldn’t get anything I really liked, I finally drove to this other spot in hopes of getting a nice shot of the American Airlines Arena and some of the Miami skyline. I took to shots and this one I like the best.

Miami Beach Florida on a rainy night

Miami Beach.
No matter how many times I shoot from this particular spot I always get different results. This is my favorite photo I’ve ever shot from here, it was rainy and moist making all the colors come to life. The clouds were moving allowing me to do a really slow exposure. I had to wait for the traffic to be just right so I could get the light tracers in the photo just right.

Best Place to Photograph the Everglades You Can Not Miss

Best Place to Photograph the Everglades, do you want to know where it is? The Everglades National Park is an incredible place. It is so vast, flat, and wet it can often be difficult to photograph. My favorite place to go photograph when I visit the Everglades is Pine Glades Lake. The sunsets there are just spectacular and there are lots of angles to get some great compositions.

The best time to come is off rainy season, the water is low and you can get lots of rocks to compose great interesting shots, but any time of the year is good. Make sure you walk around the trails because there are lots to see.

What you need to bring:
Lots of mosquito repellent, the bugs out here aren’t bugs they are dinosaurs and without repellent, they will run you off. Bring an umbrella in case it starts pouring, you never know out there.

THE GEAR

The gear I used for all my photos: Nikon D800 with a Nikon 14-24mm a Nikon 24-85mm a Nikon 70-200 and a Tamron 150-600mm.  A MeFOTO tripod is a must. I edit all my images with my Lightroom Presets download them and give them a try.

The road to get there of the main HWY is a dirt road, it’s not too bad but an SUV or pick up truck is recommended, the puddles can be kind of crazy when its rainy season. That being said any car will make it out there as long as you go slow.

Getting there: (see map below)
Once you enter the park you will go past Royal Palm Anhinga Trail, the lake is exactly 7 miles from here on the left-hand side. It’s an unmarked road and very easy to miss. Keep your eyes peeled and look for the back of a stop sign on your left-hand side.

I also teach the best Everglades Photography Workshop and tour.  Click the link to sign up. I also do private tours and workshops.

Key Largo Florida

Key Largo Florida

When I think of Key West I think of places like this. I love coming down here on my motorcycle on nice warm days. This place is amazing, it has such a cool vibe you just don’t want to leave. Everyone is so happy and it rubs off :)

This is Key Largo right when you come in to island on the right hand side. You have to slow down or else you will miss it. There is a boat dock and you can also swim and paddle board with this amazing views. There is a restaurant where you can get a cold beer and some great fish tacos.

Fishing Pier Fort Myers Beach

Fishing Pier Fort Myers Beach

This is my first photo from 2015, I woke up early morning on the 1st and went paddle boarding on the awesome Miami Beach water ways. When I got home I wanted to get silly and go shoot something cool, so I decided to drive 280 miles to go shoot this pier (thats both ways).

This is the Fort Myers Pier, it was my first time there and I must say I really enjoyed the vibe. It’s very relaxed, live music on the beach and lots of happy people enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. It was Key Westish a bit. Next time I come up I’m definitely getting a room right on the beach so I can have some fish tacos and some cold beers after I get done clicking the shutter.

Miami Beach Surfers

Miami Beach Surfers

Its sunrises like this one that creates awesome waves here in Miami Beach. I travel often and the conversation of where I live (or based out of) always comes up, when I say Miami Beach its almost always followed by: ohh you can’t surf there right? there is no waves?” I don’t mind the question as I am used to it and Miami is not known for surfing, so its a fair question.

Miami Beach Sunrise Surfers

Miami Beach is super mellow when it comes to waves and by no means its the surfing capital of the world, that being said the surf scene here is quite big and we do get nice waves when the climate changes. Usually waves are small but definitively ridable and sometimes we get some really nice barrels, and guess what?? The water is really warm :)

I thought I would put this question to rest by going out there and shooting some surfers riding some waves here in Miami Beach. If you want to catch the nice waves, you have to wake up early and keep track of the weather. Don’t assume that all we do here is party like maniacs, I mean we do that too but we also love the water…

Here are some photos I shot of some dudes killing it out there, it was a great morning to say the least.

If you are new to Miami Beach or just visiting and want to hang out with the surfers go to South Point and find this lifeguard tower, you can’t miss it, its usually surrounded by beautiful ladies with their surfboards and everyone there is super cool. If you spot me taking some flicks come say hi, and hey if there is no waves that day you can always go paddle boarding or get a mojito on Ocean Dr.
