How to find good light

We all want the best possible light to take great photos, however, sometimes it’s hard to find the right light.

It does not have to be that way. Good light is everywhere, you just have to figure out what you are looking for.  If you are new to photography know that the best times to shoot are at sunrise or sunset. During this times you will get the best light there is out there.

You have the nice soft golden light that makes everything look dreamy.

If you are out shooting in the middle of the day, you want to find shadows and cloud formations. At the same time, you want to find nice rays of light coming from the sun. Another thing to remember is that after a storm or rain comes really nice colors. The reflections throughout look beautiful and the light is nice and soft while the moist is in the air.

This photo is a great example. I shot this in the middle of the day at the Everglades. The light was a bit harsh but I saw a storm coming in the distance. I decided to wait for it, it never quite hit me but when it passed, it left this incredible cloud, full of color with a nice rainbow at the other end of it.  It was perfect, waiting around searching for a bit paid off.  If you are patient and look around you can find the right light during any time of day anywhere you are.

I shot this photo with my Nikon D800 using my favorite lens Nikon 24-85mm hand held from the back of my truck. Great times to be had out at the Everglades National Park.

The best Place to sell your photos

Where can I sell my photos? Do you know a good printer? How to I send the photos over to my customer?  These are questions I get often, and the answer is very simple. Smug Mug.

What is Smug Mug?

Smug Mug is a place where photographers can showcase their photos, back them up and sell them all in one place. It’s an incredible all in one website built by photographers for photographers.

I have tested and tried lots and lots of websites throughout the years, I must say from experience Smug Mug is the best option to sell your photographs. The best thing about it is that they handle everything from the customer placing an order, to the printing to the shipping all within your site. All you have to do is sit back and collect the money. It’s true.

They have beautiful templates so you can get your site off the ground in no time, the best part about it is the price. With plans starting at $3.99 per month for the basic package all the way to $12.50 for the portfolio package (that’s the one I have) this should make it very easy for you to make your decision.

Another incredible thing about Smug Mug is that you can use it to back up all your photos, that’s right as a back up for your entire catalog no matter how big it is not only that but you can back it all up for life.
