Society

This is the famous society sign in Reno Nevada. I shot this a long time ago after a business trip I took there. This is one of the coolest signs ever, it just has so much character. I always wonder why we don’t make cool stuff like this. Seems like everything we make now is kind of lame and its only made to last a little bit. Back then things were made to last a lifetime and the designs were just amazing.

What one do you like better, black and white or color?

The Sunset that keeps on giving

A couple days ago I posted about an insane sunset that just kept going and going and going. Well this is how it ended up into the night. This was my last shot of the night and an insane one to say the least. I was super happy with the result and even though I have shot from here many many times, this is by far my favorite photo from this particular spot. It only took 6 years to get a great shot from here….

Finding the right composition

I go out every day with a great attitude, but sometimes mother earth does not want to cooperate, and that is ok. Thats one of the things I love about landscape photography, you can’t control the light or the elements and you really never know what you are going to get.

This particular mooring was extremely dull, there were no clouds and nothing really to get your attention. This is the part where you really have to think and really have to get creative. I sat there and thought about how I could create a good composition, so I observed the elements and what was in front of me, shortly I realized that I could get the earths energy with the sun and showdown, a touch of life with the birds, and a peaceful feeling by not having any clouds. Once I figured this out I walked away with a great photo.

Photography really is this deep and complex, its not just showing up and snapping a shot, even though sometimes we wish it was.
